Couples and Marriage Counselling
The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work: A Practical guide from the country's foremost relationship expert by John M Gottman and N. Silver. (1999) Random House. Toronto.
This book provides you with practical information of how to have a harmonious loving relationship as well as questionnaires and exercises.
10 Lessons to Transform your Marriage by John Gottman, Julie Gottman, and Joan DeClaire.(2006). Three Rivers Press, New York.
Having problems like not feeling close anymore?. Only having time for the kids? This is the third book that takes you into a deeper understanding of what are the components of a great marriage and what are ways to overcome some of the common problems in a marriage.
Systemic and Family Constellations
Love's Hidden Symmetry: What makes love work in relationships by Bert Hellinger with Gunthard Weber & Hunter Beaumont (1998). Zeig, Tucker & Co., Phoenix, Arizona.
An introductory book to understanding Constellation Work. It gives a good overview of the therapeutic approach that has been honed by Bert Hellinger over the past three decades. You will read how it is possible to recognize problematic patterns, to interrupt these unproductive patterns, and to kindle the possibility of change in areas that are seldom addressed at a deep, soul level.
The Art and Practice of Family Constellations: Leading Family Constellations as Developed by Bert Hellinger by Bertold Ulsamer. 2001. Carl-Auer-Systeme Verlag, Weberstrasse 2, 69120 Heidelberg, Germany.
A must read for those who want to learn how to facilitate or to understand the dynamics of constellation work.
No Waves without the Ocean: Experiences and thoughts by Bert Hellinger. 2006. Koninklijke Wohrmann, Zutphen, Netherlands.
Unlike other Hellinger books, this one is a reference book. It captures his work between 1992 and 2000, and was just translated into English in 2006. It is thoughtfully organized so that you can find a topic easily, for example dealing with problems in a couple relationship of fear of love, and dealing with the pain of separation. He even deals with "Sickness and healing in families" such as cancer, anorexia, bulimia, overeating and fasting, asthma and depression.
Addictions
Deceived: Facing Sexual Betrayal, Lies, and Secrets by Claudia Black. (2009). Hazelden, Center City Minnesota.
A leading edge book that captures the growing trend for addictive sexual behaviours, particularly as impacted by access to internet pornography.
